Stag beetles look so fierce with their antler like mandibles I was a little surprised to find that they live most of their lives underground munching on rotting wood and not hunting smaller bugs. Who knew? Well they can still look fierce on a pair of mittens.
This pattern is recommended for knitters with experience with knitting in the round, reading charts and working in stranded colorwork.  I used black and blue for my sample beetles but any 2 contrasting colours will work. The pattern uses fingering weight yarn and 2mm needles.
