This mitten pattern is knit from the cuff up, in the round with invisible thumbs and includes:
Materials list, sizing, gauge
Step by step instructions
Short cuff and long cuff options
Full charts of both right and left mittens
 
Finished size is approximately 8.5”/21cm around and 12”/30cm long, a perfect fit for most women or teens
 
Materials used:
Fingering weight yarn – 200m Main colour / 150m Contrast colour
Roughly 10m of yarn for duplicate stitch on hair and skin
2.5mm circular needles or DPNs

Knitting in the round
Reading a chart
Stranded knitting with 2 colours
Increasing and decreasing
Kitchener stitch
Duplicate stitch
 
Even if you are a beginner, mittens are fun and easy to knit up in a short time and make excellent DIY custom gifts. They are also an awesome stash-buster project as they are a great way to use up those one of a kind, 50g hand dyed skeins.
I chose dark blue and green for these mittens and gave my mermaid red hair but you can easily pick any of your favorite contrasting colors – make your mittens yellow with a purple mermaid with green hair! There are no rules…
