Beer Pint Mitten Knitting Pattern

🍺Beer🍻One of the oldest and most popular beverages ever and yet you never see Beer mittens?  Until now.

Nobody knows exactly when the first barley was brewed but the earliest evidence seems to point to the ancient Sumerians as far back as 8,000 BC. Fast forward to the middle ages and beer was considered safer to drink than water.  Can't really argue with that as I've been a few places where I think its still true.  Off resort tropics anyone?

Jesting aside, beer is still a favorite worldwide from Asia to America, Europe to Austrailia.  Popping in to the local pub for a pint with friends is still an important cultural ritual.  With the rise of craft breweries over the past few decades, the options and flavors are endless.

So to celebrate all those great beers out there, here is an easy to follow charted mitten knitting pattern of the perfect frosty pint, with barley and hops on the cuffs. A bit of duplicate stitch for the foam makes it pop.  A quick knitting project that is great for holding your pint during a chilly Oktoberfest.

This pattern is recommended for knitters who have experience knitting in the round, reading charts and working in stranded colorwork. Use any 2 contrasting colors in a yarn of your choice, but I kept it to "beer" colors. But you could make them green for St Patrick's Day!  The pattern is highly adaptable.  The large mittens were knit in DK weight using 3mm needles and the smaller mittens were knit in sock/fingering weight using 2mm needles.

Hop to it! I bet you can Barley wait to get started...
