I have chosen red and orange for one pair and orange and black for the second pair as the colors remind me of flame, but hey, don't let my imagination hold you back.
The mittens pictured were knit using sock / fingering weight and US size 1 / 2.25mm needles for a women's - medium size. You could easily knit a larger mitten using larger needles or adjust to a smaller mitten using smaller needles.
